 Officer Safety Options

This course deals with Officer Safety and Public Servants on the job and away from the job. The instructor will give specific detailed instructions on how to defend yourself if you get in an uncomfortable situation. All subjects are taught with Power Point Presentation, lecturers, and hands-on application. Here are some subjects we will discuss and practice.

 

  • What to do when the case is assigned to you –Research, Google your route or use Waze and share your ride so others can see where you are at. Making sure your communications are up to par. Have a game plan how to get out?
  • Verbal Self Defense- How to deescalate a negative situation verbally first. Learn how to read body language, early detection and awareness, in voice tone and movement.
  • Dog AwarenessHave a plan, look for signs that a dog is present, understanding dog body language, defending against a dog, lessons learned.
  • Gun vs KnifeWhat are your chances of survival, what are the limitations, what are my options?
  • What does the acronymAWARE and ACTION mean?
  • Basic Hand-to-Hand techniques – We will pair-up and practice basic techniques that can start to get you to think outside of the box and use what is available to defend yourselfThis is the best part of the class as you come dressed casual. This is a NO GRAB and NO THROW class. This subject for the seminar, is a demonstration ONLY.
  • Ideas on how to inspect a vacant building or property – Always have a game plan, back-up, good communication, documentation.
  • What if I get knocked to the ground – We will demonstrate some ideas and options if you do go to the ground.
  • Active Shoote– We will talk about some do’s and don’ts if you get into this situation.
  • Home Safety - What it takes to come home every night to your family.
 Arthur Miraflor
Born and raised Hawaii, Art’s family moved to Stockton, California in 1968. Art graduated as Salutatorian of his class from Stockton Christian Academy, and he attended San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC). He was drafted in 1972 but chose to enlist in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). During his term of service in the USMC he received three meritorious promotions and an Honorable Discharge as a Vietnam Veteran. Once back home, Art received his Construction Management Certification from San Joaquin Delta Collage, in Stockton.
