Dear CACEO Members, The Covid-19 pandemic has affected us as private citizens and as professionals. As private citizens, many of us have family members or friends who have contracted the virus and sadly, have lost loved ones. As professionals, many of us have been placed on the frontline as primary enforcers of the various state and local health orders related to Covid-19. As a result, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats of physical harm, assaults and injuries to code enforcement officers for simply doing their jobs. I want each one of our members to know that CACEO recognizes this highly disturbing trend and that we are here to support you. We are not taking this lightly and we will not standby idly as our members are threatened. CACEO condemns all threats and vitriolic actions directed towards our members and is embarking on a campaign to ensure this trend is addressed. We are also taking steps to ensure that those who threaten code enforcement officers, whether from behind a keyboard or otherwise, are identified and held accountable for their actions. If you experience any threatening or violent behavior due to your role as a code officer, please file a report with CACEO here. In solidarity,
Darrell Revier President California Association of Code Enforcement Officers
