Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and coworkers of fallen Sacramento County Health Inspector Dennis Catanyag who was brutally murdered by a restaurant employee during the commission of his inspection duties on January 14, 2021. This incident is another tragic example of why we, as representatives of our local governments who are charged with the duties of regulating health and safety standards and addressing quality of life concerns in our communities, must to take every reasonable safety precaution possible to ensure we make it home safely to our loved ones at the end of every work day. CACEO is dedicated to working with our municipal leaders and state legislators to develop and implement meaningful changes to officer safety training standards and to create new legislation aimed at increasing officer safety in support of our members and of our brethren health and safety inspectors.
