This free course will cover the following areas:

  • Behavioral Health Overview – Provides learners an understanding of behavioral health concerns, signs and symptoms, and mental illness concerns.
  • Communication & De-escalation – Responding to persons in a crisis, understanding their behavior and responses. Identifying ways to approach, communicate and assist a person experiencing a traumatic event or post trauma.
  • Emotional Intelligence – Understanding where oneself is at emotionally when responding to the community and being self-aware of our internal agitations and emotions when communicating with the public.
    • Self-Care Wellness – Explore the dimensions of wellness and development of one’s own self-care plan.

If you are taking this course to qualify for the Officer Safety Certificate, please be sure to retain your certificate of completion afterwards.  It will be required during the OSC submission process.
