About the Exam

Any journeyman code enforcement officer who has five or more years of documented experience performing code enforcement related duties and is a current CACEO member in good standing may elect to take the Substitute Service Exam to be eligible for the Certified Code Enforcement Officer (CCEO) designation in place of taking the CCEO modules. It is a two-hour proctored exam and a score of 70% or higher is required to pass. The Substitute Service Exam opportunity will only be offered through 2023, after which all applicants will be required to complete CACEO's Academy Modules.

Documentation is required to verify Code Enforcement experience of at least 5 years. Upon registration, you will be asked to upload a file showing proof of 5+ years of code enforcement experience. This can be a letter from your employer or any other documentation showing your work experience.

Fees

There is a $200 fee to register for the exam. There is a separate $200 fee to apply for the CCEO designation. After completing and passing the exam, you will need to submit the CCEO application and $200 application fee payment here.

You must also be a current member of CACEO to take the exam. If you are not a member, you can join here.
