Any journeyman code enforcement officer who has five or more years of documented experience performing code enforcement related duties and is a current CACEO member in good standing may elect to take the Substitute Service Exam to be eligible for the Certified Code Enforcement Officer (CCEO) designation in place of taking the CCEO modules. It is a two-hour proctored exam and a score of 70% or higher is required to pass. The Substitute Service Exam opportunity will only be offered through 2023, after which all applicants will be required to complete CACEO's Academy Modules. Note* Documentation is required to verify Code Enforcement experience of at least five years. After registering for the exam, email a letter from your employer or other proof of employment to whixson@caceo.us Location The exam will occur at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley, CA. The exam will be given during the 2021 Annual Seminar, however admission to the seminar will be a separate cost from the exam. If you want to attend the Annual Seminar you must register for the seminar separately from the exam. Capacity Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only 30 spots are available for this exam. Fees There is a $200 fee to register for the exam. There is a separate $200 to apply for the CCEO designation. After completing passing the exam, you will need to submit the CCEO application and $200 application fee payment here. You must also be a current member of CACEO to take the exam.
