To be effective, an Administrative Hearing Officer must be knowledgeable on several issues including; how to properly conduct a hearing, review evidence, consider testimony, and be able to render an unbiased and defensible decision. The best hearing officers have a working knowledge of code enforcement in general, but also understand the local codes relevant to the case they are adjudicating.
Join this webinar to gain insight into your role as a Hearing Officer and get an opportunity to practice those skills in a mock administrative hearing. This interactive webinar will give you an initial primer followed by breakout sessions where students can practice what they have learned.
Code Enforcement Officers benefit from this training by learning what to expect in a hearing and how important it is to have a well-prepared case. They will also have the opportunity to play the respective roles of a resident who was issued a fine, the code officer, and the hearing officer.
Due to the nature of this workshop, registration is limited to 30 members.
