Course Description

This course will provide an overview of internet tools for code enforcement officers. Students will be provided with free internet resources for open source investigations. This will include researching marijuana storefronts, massage parlors and other businesses commonly regulated by code enforcement officers. Tools for locating contact information for property owners will be provided. Examples of successful inspection warrants, primarily utilizing internet resources, will be discussed.

Utilizing Arial Photography to Research Non-Permitted Contractions

Researching Illegal Businesses

Locating Contact Information for Property Owners

Writing Inspection Warrant Affidavits Utilizing Internet Research

Takeaways:

Students will be able to locate contact information for property owners using free internet resources.

Students will be provided an example of a successful affidavit for a code enforcement inspection warrant, primarily, utilizing online resources.
